Aksumite Civilization
The Aksumite Civilization was an ancient kingdom located in what is now northern Ethiopia and parts of Eritrea. It thrived from around the 1st to the 7th century CE and was known for its impressive architecture, including large stone obelisks and the famous Aksum Obelisk. The civilization was a major trading empire, connecting Africa, the Middle East, and India through commerce.
Aksum was also notable for its early adoption of Christianity in the 4th century CE, making it one of the first major empires to do so. The kingdom developed a unique script called Ge'ez and minted its own coins, which facilitated trade and communication.
