Aksum Obelisk
The Aksum Obelisk is a monumental stone structure located in Aksum, Ethiopia. It stands about 24 meters tall and is one of several obelisks in the area, which were built around the 4th century AD. These obelisks are believed to mark the graves of ancient kings and serve as symbols of the power and wealth of the Aksumite Empire.
The obelisk is intricately carved, featuring false doors and windows that mimic the architecture of the time. It was originally toppled during the 20th century but was later restored and re-erected in 2008. The Aksum Obelisk is a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflecting Ethiopia's rich historical heritage.
