Akoya pearls
Akoya pearls are a type of cultured pearl primarily produced in Japan and China. They are known for their round shape, high luster, and beautiful colors, which range from white to cream, with pink or silver overtones. These pearls are formed by the Pinctada fucata oyster and are typically smaller than other types of pearls, averaging between 6 to 8 millimeters in diameter.
The cultivation of Akoya pearls began in the early 20th century and has since become a significant industry. They are often used in jewelry, such as necklaces and earrings, and are prized for their classic elegance and timeless appeal.
