Akoya Pearls
Akoya pearls are a type of cultured pearl primarily produced in Japan and China. They are known for their round shape, high luster, and a wide range of colors, including white, cream, and pink. These pearls are formed inside the Pinctada fucata oyster and are typically smaller than other types of pearls, usually ranging from 2mm to 10mm in diameter.
The cultivation of Akoya pearls involves inserting a small bead into the oyster, which then secretes layers of nacre around it. This process can take several months to years, depending on the desired size and quality. Due to their beauty and elegance, Akoya pearls are highly sought after for jewelry, especially in necklaces and earrings.
