Akinwumi Adesina
Akinwumi Adesina is a Nigerian agricultural economist and the current President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), a position he has held since 2015. He is known for his efforts to promote agricultural development and food security across Africa. Adesina has received numerous awards for his work, including the prestigious World Food Prize in 2017.
Before leading the AfDB, Adesina served as Nigeria's Minister of Agriculture, where he implemented reforms that significantly increased the country's agricultural productivity. He has a strong educational background, holding a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. His leadership focuses on sustainable development and poverty reduction in Africa.
