Air-to-air intercoolers
Air-to-air intercoolers are devices used in turbocharged or supercharged engines to cool the compressed air before it enters the engine. When air is compressed, its temperature increases, which can reduce engine efficiency and power. The intercooler cools this hot air by passing it through a series of fins and tubes, allowing ambient air to flow over it, thus lowering its temperature.
These intercoolers are typically mounted at the front of the vehicle, where they can receive maximum airflow, similar to a radiator. By cooling the intake air, air-to-air intercoolers help improve engine performance and reduce the risk of knocking, enhancing overall efficiency in vehicles like sports cars and high-performance trucks.
