Air Sparging
Air sparging is a groundwater remediation technique used to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from contaminated soil and groundwater. This process involves injecting air into the saturated zone of the soil, which helps to volatilize the contaminants. As the air rises, it carries the VOCs to the surface, where they can be captured and treated.
The method is often used in conjunction with soil vapor extraction, where the vaporized contaminants are extracted from the soil. Air sparging is effective in reducing pollution levels and restoring the quality of groundwater, making it a valuable tool in environmental cleanup efforts.
