Ahmed I
Ahmed I was an Ottoman Sultan who reigned from 1603 to 1617. He is best known for commissioning the famous Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, in Istanbul. His reign marked a period of relative stability and cultural development within the Ottoman Empire.
During Ahmed I's rule, the empire faced challenges, including conflicts with the Safavid Empire and internal strife. Despite these issues, he focused on architectural projects and the arts, leaving a lasting legacy. Ahmed I was the first Sultan to be born in the palace, reflecting the growing importance of the imperial court in Ottoman society.
