Afro-Colombians
Afro-Colombians are individuals of African descent living in Colombia. They represent a significant part of the country's cultural and ethnic diversity, with roots tracing back to the transatlantic slave trade. Many Afro-Colombians reside in coastal regions, particularly in Chocó, Córdoba, and Bolívar, where they have maintained rich cultural traditions, including music, dance, and cuisine.
The Afro-Colombian community has contributed greatly to Colombia's cultural heritage, particularly through genres like cumbia and vallenato. Despite facing social and economic challenges, Afro-Colombians continue to advocate for their rights and recognition, striving for equality and representation in various aspects of Colombian society.
