Aelia Paetina
Aelia Paetina was a Roman woman known for her marriage to the Emperor Claudius. She was born into a prominent family and became the first wife of Claudius, who later became emperor in 41 AD. Their marriage was politically significant, as it helped to strengthen Claudius's position within the Roman elite.
Despite her initial prominence, Aelia Paetina's status diminished after Claudius divorced her around 24 AD. He later married Messalina, who became more influential in the imperial court. Aelia Paetina's life reflects the complexities of Roman political alliances and the role of women in ancient Rome.
