Lucius Verus was a Roman Emperor who ruled alongside his adoptive brother, Marcus Aurelius, from 161 to 169 AD. Born in 130 AD, he was the son of Lucius Ceionius Commodus and Aelia Paetina. Verus was known for his military campaigns, particularly against the Parthian Empire, which expanded Roman influence in the East.
Despite his role as co-emperor, Lucius Verus was often seen as more interested in leisure and luxury than in governance. He enjoyed a lavish lifestyle and was known for his love of games and entertainment. Verus died in 169 AD, possibly from a plague, leaving Marcus Aurelius to rule alone.
