Advent wreaths
An Advent wreath is a circular arrangement of evergreen branches that symbolizes the passage of the four weeks leading up to Christmas. Traditionally, the wreath holds four candles, one for each week of Advent, with a fifth candle, known as the Christ candle, placed in the center. Each candle represents hope, peace, joy, and love, and is lit on successive Sundays.
The practice of using an Advent wreath originated in the 16th century and has become a popular way to mark the Advent season in many Christian households. The wreath's circular shape signifies eternity, while the greenery represents new life and the promise of Jesus Christ's birth.
