Adelaide of Vermandois
Adelaide of Vermandois (c. 940 – after 982) was a noblewoman from the House of Vermandois in medieval France. She was the daughter of Hugh the Great, a powerful nobleman, and Adele of France, linking her to the royal family. Adelaide married Hugh I of France, strengthening political alliances during a time of feudal fragmentation.
Adelaide's marriage to Hugh I produced several children, including Hugh Capet, who would later become the first King of the Capetian dynasty. Her lineage played a significant role in shaping the future of the French monarchy, as her descendants would rule for centuries.
