Acholi people
The Acholi people are an ethnic group primarily found in northern Uganda and parts of South Sudan. They speak the Acholi language, which is part of the Nilo-Saharan language family. Traditionally, the Acholi are known for their agricultural practices, cultivating crops such as millet, sorghum, and cassava. They have a rich cultural heritage, including music, dance, and storytelling.
Historically, the Acholi have faced challenges, particularly during the Lord's Resistance Army conflict in the late 20th century, which led to significant displacement and trauma. Despite these hardships, the Acholi community remains resilient, working towards rebuilding their lives and preserving their cultural identity.
