Aceraceae
Aceraceae, commonly known as the maple family, is a group of flowering plants that includes about 150 species. This family is primarily found in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Members of Aceraceae are known for their distinctive leaves, which are often lobed, and their unique winged seeds, called samaras, that help in seed dispersal.
The most well-known genus within Aceraceae is Acer, which includes various species of maples. These trees and shrubs are valued for their ornamental beauty, vibrant fall colors, and wood, which is used in furniture and flooring. Some species, like the sugar maple, are also important for producing maple syrup.
