Abu al-Abbas al-Safah
Abu al-Abbas al-Safah was the founder and first caliph of the Abbasid Caliphate, which succeeded the Umayyad Caliphate in 750 CE. Al-Safah ruled until his death in 754 CE, promoting a more inclusive administration that welcomed diverse ethnic groups within the Islamic empire. His leadership established the capital in Baghdad, which became a center of learning and culture during the Islamic Golden Age.
