Abednego
Abednego is a biblical figure known from the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament. He was one of three young men, along with Shadrach and Meshach, who were taken captive by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. Abednego is famous for refusing to worship a golden statue, demonstrating his faith in God.
As a result of his defiance, Abednego, along with his companions, was thrown into a fiery furnace. However, they miraculously survived unharmed, which led to a significant change in the king's attitude towards their faith. This story highlights themes of loyalty, faith, and divine protection.
