AVNOJ
The AVNOJ, or Anti-Fascist Council of National Liberation of Yugoslavia, was established in 1942 during World War II. It served as a governing body for the territories liberated from Axis powers, primarily in Yugoslavia. The council aimed to unite various resistance groups and coordinate efforts against the occupying forces.
AVNOJ played a crucial role in shaping post-war Yugoslavia. In 1943, it adopted a resolution that laid the groundwork for the federal structure of the country. This council was instrumental in promoting the idea of a socialist federation, which influenced the political landscape of Yugoslavia for decades.
