2019–2021 Iraqi Protests
The 2019–2021 Iraqi Protests were a series of demonstrations that began in October 2019, primarily driven by widespread dissatisfaction with government corruption, unemployment, and inadequate public services. Protesters, mainly young people, demanded political reforms and an end to the influence of foreign powers, particularly Iran.
The protests escalated in intensity, leading to violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces. The Iraqi government responded with a mix of concessions and crackdowns, resulting in numerous casualties. By early 2021, the protests had diminished, but the underlying issues of governance and economic hardship remained unresolved, continuing to affect Iraqi society.
