2016 Nice Attack
On July 14, 2016, a tragic attack occurred in Nice, France, during the city's annual Bastille Day celebrations. A large truck was driven into a crowd of people along the Promenade des Anglais, resulting in the deaths of 86 individuals and injuring over 400 others. The attack was carried out by a lone assailant, who was later shot and killed by police.
The incident was claimed by ISIS, highlighting the ongoing threat of terrorism in Europe. In response, French authorities increased security measures and declared a state of emergency, which had been in place since the previous terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015.
