1971 Genocide
The 1971 Genocide refers to the mass killings that occurred during the Bangladesh Liberation War, when the Pakistani military launched a brutal campaign against the Bengali population in East Pakistan. This violence aimed to suppress the movement for independence, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 300,000 to 3,000,000 people, along with widespread atrocities, including sexual violence and displacement.
The conflict began in March 1971 and lasted until December of the same year, culminating in the creation of the independent nation of Bangladesh. The genocide has been recognized by various international organizations and remains a significant event in the history of South Asia.
