1956 Constitution
The 1956 Constitution of Pakistan was the first constitution of the country, adopted on March 23, 1956. It established Pakistan as an Islamic republic and aimed to provide a framework for governance, civil rights, and the separation of powers among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.
This constitution replaced the Government of India Act 1935 and introduced a parliamentary system. It recognized the importance of fundamental rights and aimed to promote social justice. However, the 1956 Constitution was abrogated in 1958 when martial law was declared, leading to significant political changes in Pakistan.
