태조 이성계
태조 이성계 was the founder of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, which lasted for over five centuries. Born in 1335, he was originally a military leader who played a significant role in the overthrow of the Goryeo Dynasty. In 1392, he established the new dynasty and became its first king, taking the throne name 태조.
As king, 이성계 implemented various reforms to strengthen the central government and promote Confucian ideals. He moved the capital to Hanyang, modern-day Seoul, and worked to stabilize the economy and improve agricultural practices. His reign laid the foundation for the cultural and political development of Korea during the Joseon period.
