청일전쟁
청일전쟁, or the First Sino-Japanese War, occurred from 1894 to 1895 between the Qing Dynasty of China and Japan. The conflict primarily arose over control of Korea, which was a tributary state of China but increasingly influenced by Japan. The war marked Japan's emergence as a modern military power.
The war ended with the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which resulted in significant territorial losses for China. Japan gained control of Taiwan and the Pescadores Islands, and Korea was recognized as an independent state. This conflict significantly altered the balance of power in East Asia and highlighted the decline of the Qing Dynasty.
