거문고
The 거문고 (geomungo) is a traditional Korean string instrument, known for its deep, resonant sound. It typically has six strings made from silk and is played by plucking the strings with a bamboo stick called a 채 (chae). The instrument is often associated with Korean classical music and is an important part of the country's cultural heritage.
The geomungo has a long, rectangular body made from wood, which contributes to its unique tone. It is believed to have originated during the Three Kingdoms period and has been used in various musical genres, including court music and folk songs. The geomungo is also featured in performances of 판소리 (pansori), a form of musical storytelling.
