長江
長江, also known as the Yangtze River, is the longest river in China and the third longest in the world. It stretches approximately 6,300 kilometers (3,917 miles) from its source in the Tibetan Plateau to its mouth at the East China Sea. The river flows through several provinces, including Sichuan, Yunnan, and Jiangsu, playing a crucial role in the country's economy and culture.
The Yangtze River is vital for transportation, agriculture, and hydroelectric power generation. The Three Gorges Dam, located on the river, is one of the largest hydroelectric projects globally, significantly contributing to China's energy supply. The river also supports diverse ecosystems and is home to unique species, such as the endangered Yangtze giant softshell turtle.
