熊野古道
The 熊野古道 (Kumano Kodo) is a network of ancient pilgrimage routes located in the Kumano region of Japan. These paths connect various sacred sites, including the Kumano Sanzan, which consists of three important shrines: Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha, and Kumano Hayatama Taisha. The routes are known for their beautiful natural scenery, including mountains, forests, and rivers.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, the Kumano Kodo has been traveled by pilgrims for over a thousand years. The trails vary in difficulty, making them accessible to both experienced hikers and casual walkers. Today, they attract visitors seeking spiritual experiences and a connection to Japan's rich cultural history.
