عيد الأضحى
عيد الأضحى, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is an important Islamic holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Isma'il in obedience to Allah. The holiday occurs on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
During عيد الأضحى, families gather to perform special prayers at mosques and open fields. They also participate in the ritual sacrifice of an animal, usually a sheep, goat, or cow, with the meat distributed among family, friends, and those in need. This act symbolizes sharing and generosity, reinforcing community bonds.
