عصمت چغتائی
عصمت چغتائی (Ismat Chughtai) was a prominent Urdu writer and novelist from India, known for her bold and progressive themes. Born on August 21, 1915, in Badaun, she became a significant figure in Urdu literature, particularly for her short stories that often explored women's issues and societal norms.
Chughtai's work is characterized by its candid portrayal of female sexuality and the struggles of women in a patriarchal society. Her most famous works include the novel Bazaar-e-Husn and the short story collection Angarey. She received several awards for her contributions to literature, including the Padma Bhushan in 1976.
