Голодомору
Голодомор was a devastating famine that occurred in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933. It resulted from the policies of the Soviet government, particularly the forced collectivization of agriculture and grain requisition quotas. Millions of Ukrainians suffered from starvation, and it is estimated that around 3 to 7 million people died as a result.
The term "Голодомор" translates to "death by hunger" and is recognized as a genocide by several countries. The famine had profound social and political impacts on Ukraine and its people, leading to long-lasting effects on the nation's history and identity.
