Μαύσωλου (Tomb)
The Μαύσωλος (Mausoleum) is an ancient tomb built for Mausolus, a satrap of the Persian Empire, in the city of Halicarnassus, now known as Bodrum in Turkey. Constructed around 350 BC, it was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, celebrated for its grand architecture and intricate sculptures.
The structure stood approximately 45 meters tall and featured a combination of Greek, Egyptian, and Lycian architectural styles. It was adorned with impressive reliefs and statues, showcasing the artistic skills of the time. The Mausoleum was eventually destroyed by a series of earthquakes, but its legacy continues to influence tomb design throughout history.
