Βεργίνα
Βεργίνα is an archaeological site located in northern Greece, known for its significant historical importance. It was the ancient city of Aigai, the first capital of the Macedonian Kingdom. The site features impressive burial mounds, including the tomb of Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great, which was discovered in 1977.
The site is recognized for its rich artifacts, including gold jewelry, weapons, and frescoes, which provide insight into the culture and art of the Macedonian era. In 1988, Βεργίνα was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its value as a key location for understanding ancient Greek history.
