Étienne-Louis Boullée
Étienne-Louis Boullée was an influential French architect born in 1728, known for his visionary designs that emphasized monumental forms and dramatic effects. He is often associated with the Neoclassical movement, which sought to revive the classical architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. Boullée's work was characterized by grand scale, geometric shapes, and a focus on the emotional impact of architecture.
His most famous project is the design for a Newton monument, which featured a massive spherical structure symbolizing the universe. Although many of his designs were never built, Boullée's ideas greatly influenced later architects and contributed to the development of modern architectural theory.
