{Tulsa Race Massacre
The Tulsa Race Massacre occurred from May 31 to June 1, 1921, in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This area was known as "Black Wall Street" due to its prosperous African American community. The violence began after a confrontation between a Black man and a white woman, leading to false accusations and escalating tensions.
Over the course of the massacre, white mobs attacked Greenwood, destroying homes, businesses, and churches. It is estimated that up to 300 African Americans were killed, and thousands were left homeless. The event remains a significant and tragic part of American history, highlighting issues of racial violence and injustice.
