{Smalkaldic War
The Smalkaldic War (1546-1547) was a conflict between the forces of the Holy Roman Empire and a coalition of Protestant princes known as the Smalkaldic League. The war arose from tensions over religious reforms initiated by Martin Luther and the growing power of Protestantism in Germany.
The war ended with a decisive victory for the imperial forces led by Charles V, resulting in the dissolution of the Smalkaldic League. The conflict reinforced the authority of the Catholic Church in the region, but it also set the stage for ongoing religious strife that would continue for decades.
