The Millerite movement was a religious movement in the United States during the early 19th century, primarily led by William Miller. Miller, a Baptist preacher, predicted that the second coming of Jesus Christ would occur on October 22, 1844. His teachings attracted a large following, as many people were eager for spiritual renewal and the hope of salvation.
When the predicted date passed without the anticipated event, the movement faced significant disillusionment, leading to what is known as the "Great Disappointment." Despite this setback, the Millerite movement laid the groundwork for the formation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which emerged from the remnants of Miller's followers.
