water-repellent fabrics
Water-repellent fabrics are specially treated materials designed to resist the penetration of water. These fabrics often have a coating or finish that causes water to bead up and roll off the surface, rather than soaking in. Common examples include nylon, polyester, and Gore-Tex, which are frequently used in outdoor clothing and gear.
The water-repellent treatment can be applied during manufacturing or as an after-treatment. While these fabrics can withstand light rain and moisture, they are not completely waterproof. Over time, the effectiveness of the water-repellent finish may diminish, requiring re-treatment to maintain performance.
