vestibular neuritis
Vestibular neuritis is an inner ear condition that causes sudden dizziness and balance problems. It occurs when the vestibular nerve, which helps control balance, becomes inflamed, often due to a viral infection. Symptoms typically include vertigo, nausea, and difficulty maintaining balance, but hearing is usually unaffected.
The condition can be quite distressing, but it is generally not life-threatening. Most people recover within a few weeks, although some may experience lingering balance issues. Treatment often focuses on managing symptoms and may include medications or vestibular rehabilitation therapy to help improve balance and reduce dizziness.
