Homonym: type I (Diabetes)
Type I refers to a classification of diabetes known as Type 1 diabetes, a chronic condition where the pancreas produces little to no insulin. Insulin is a hormone essential for converting glucose into energy. This type of diabetes typically develops in children and young adults, but it can occur at any age.
Individuals with Type 1 diabetes must manage their condition through regular insulin injections or the use of an insulin pump. They also need to monitor their blood sugar levels frequently to maintain a healthy balance and prevent complications. Unlike Type 2 diabetes, Type I is not linked to lifestyle factors.
