Homonym: trojan horse (Malware)
A Trojan Horse is a deceptive tool used in warfare and cybersecurity. In ancient Greek mythology, it refers to a large wooden horse that the Greeks used to trick the Trojans into allowing them into the city of Troy. Hidden inside the horse were Greek soldiers who emerged at night to capture the city.
In modern contexts, a Trojan Horse refers to malicious software that pretends to be legitimate. Once installed on a computer, it can give hackers access to sensitive information or control over the system. Unlike viruses, Trojans do not replicate themselves but rely on users to install them unknowingly.
