tonic-clonic seizures
Tonic-clonic seizures, also known as grand mal seizures, are a type of seizure that involves two phases: the tonic phase and the clonic phase. During the tonic phase, the person's muscles stiffen, and they may lose consciousness. This phase typically lasts for about 10 to 20 seconds.
Following the tonic phase, the clonic phase begins, characterized by rhythmic jerking movements of the body. This phase can last for a few minutes. After the seizure, the person may feel confused, tired, or have a headache, a state known as the postictal phase.
