the Ring of Brodgar
The Ring of Brodgar is a prehistoric stone circle located on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. It is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to around 2500 BC. The ring consists of 27 standing stones, originally 60, arranged in a circular formation, and is surrounded by a large ditch.
This ancient monument is believed to have been used for ceremonial purposes, possibly related to rituals or gatherings. The Ring of Brodgar is one of the best-preserved stone circles in the UK and offers insights into the spiritual and social practices of the Neolithic people who inhabited the region.
