the Camino de Santiago
The Camino de Santiago is a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the shrine of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Traditionally, it has been traveled by pilgrims for centuries, seeking spiritual growth and adventure. The most popular route, the Camino Francés, begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and spans approximately 800 kilometers.
Pilgrims walk, bike, or ride horses along the trails, which pass through diverse landscapes and historic towns. Along the way, they can find albergues (hostels) for rest and meet fellow travelers. The journey culminates at the Cathedral of Santiago, where many receive a certificate of completion.
