tapir
A tapir is a large, herbivorous mammal found in tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America, as well as Southeast Asia. They have a distinctive body shape, with a stout body, short legs, and a long, flexible snout that resembles a trunk. Tapirs are excellent swimmers and often inhabit areas near rivers and wetlands.
There are four species of tapirs: the Brazilian tapir, the Baird's tapir, the Malayan tapir, and the mountain tapir. They primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and grasses, playing a crucial role in their ecosystems by helping to disperse seeds. Tapirs are generally solitary animals and are most active during the early morning and late evening.
