takotsubo
Takotsubo syndrome, also known as "broken heart syndrome," is a temporary heart condition often triggered by extreme emotional or physical stress. It mimics the symptoms of a heart attack, such as chest pain and shortness of breath, but is not caused by blocked arteries. Instead, it leads to a sudden weakening of the heart muscle.
The name "takotsubo" comes from the Japanese word for an octopus trap, as the heart takes on a similar shape during the condition. Most patients recover fully within weeks, but it is essential to seek medical attention to rule out other serious heart issues.
