stoning the devil
Stoning the devil is a ritual performed during the Islamic pilgrimage known as Hajj. It takes place at a site called Mina, where pilgrims throw pebbles at three pillars that symbolize the devil's temptation of Ibrahim (Abraham). This act represents the rejection of evil and the commitment to faith.
The ritual occurs on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, coinciding with the celebration of Eid al-Adha. Pilgrims collect pebbles and throw them at the pillars over several days, reinforcing their spiritual resolve and unity with fellow Muslims participating in the pilgrimage.
