stags
Stags are male deer, particularly known for their impressive antlers, which they grow and shed annually. They belong to various species within the family Cervidae, including red deer and white-tailed deer. Stags typically reach maturity around 2 to 3 years of age and are often seen in herds, especially during the mating season.
During the breeding season, known as the rut, stags engage in displays of strength and dominance to attract females, or does. They may engage in vocalizations, such as roaring, and physical confrontations with other stags. After mating, stags play a minimal role in raising the young, as does usually care for the fawns alone.
