split-brain syndrome
Split-brain syndrome occurs when the two hemispheres of the brain are unable to communicate effectively, often due to surgical procedures that sever the corpus callosum. This condition can lead to unique cognitive and perceptual challenges, as each hemisphere may process information differently.
Individuals with split-brain syndrome may exhibit unusual behaviors, such as one hand acting independently of the other. For example, the left hemisphere, which typically controls language, may not be able to verbalize what the right hemisphere perceives, leading to confusion and disjointed responses in certain situations.
