space treaties
Space treaties are agreements between countries that govern the use and exploration of outer space. The most significant of these is the Outer Space Treaty, established in 1967, which outlines that space should be used for peaceful purposes and prohibits the placement of nuclear weapons in orbit. It also states that celestial bodies, like the Moon and Mars, cannot be claimed by any nation.
These treaties aim to promote international cooperation and prevent conflicts in space. Other important agreements include the Rescue Agreement and the Moon Agreement, which address issues like the rescue of astronauts and the exploration of lunar resources.
