slip casting
Slip casting is a pottery technique used to create ceramic objects by pouring a liquid clay mixture, known as slip, into a mold. The mold is typically made from plaster, which absorbs water from the slip, allowing the clay to solidify and take the shape of the mold. After a certain period, the excess slip is poured out, leaving a layer of clay that forms the object.
Once the clay has dried to a leather-hard state, the piece is removed from the mold and can be further refined. The final steps include drying, bisque firing, glazing, and a final firing to create a durable ceramic product.
